Message: Hi Charles,
I don't have the same last name but I do have Bercier in my geneology, Josephte Bercier was married to Ignace McKay and happened to be my grandfather's great-great grandparents. The rest of your list I couldn't see because it went right off the page. Try typing it again and press enter after Charbonneau and I might see the whole list.
Who knows I may have more relatives out there. Keep me posted. Thanks Charles.

Message: Hi Charles
Yes i have 90% of the names that you listed. My Mother was a Bercier. Her name was Violet Her father was Moses Bercier he married Ursala Patenaude. I have alot of info on alot of the names you listed. You must know now that Cuthbert Grant Junior is also related to us. he was Manitobas first Metis leader. His Sister Josephete is my 4th Great Grandmother she married John wells who built Fort Gilbrator which is now the city of Winnipeg. Another sister to her married Pierre Falcon who wrote many songs and poety that the metis sang back in the early 1800,s. And yet another sister if my memory serves me right married into the Morin family.I have been researching alot of our ancestors. The Bercier name I have gone back to the 1600,s and the Grant name i have traced back to the 800,s. Donald Smith who drove the last spike in the cross Canada railroad linking Canada is also related to us. Anyhow if anyone needs info i will share all that i have. Looking forward to hearing from all my new found families.

Are you two related? Anyways, what I want to ask if it was Cuthbert Grant Jr.'s sister Marguerite who married a Francois Paul Morin (b. 1791, d. Feb 18, 1856)? One of their children was a Louis Louisson Perrault Morin (b. 1819) who married a Marguerite Malaterre. If this is right, then we may be related!

| Francis or eustache roussain IP: Logged
Message: Does anyone run into these two names in their searches? we are just starting the family tree of my husband , Craig Roussain. We know that Francis came over from France in the late 1700's and he married Rose Ducharme in Montreal,Quebec in 1804 or 1806. They then sailed for Rupert's Land. They had a son Charles in 1821 in Lac LaPleur, Manitoba. My husband is decended from him.
Eustache roussain also came over from France and worked as a clerk for the Northwest Co. Fur Trading. We know that he was a clerk for Simon Charette in the Lac duFlambeau Dept. in Wisconsin.
This is where we lose these two guys, but in 1854 at a Chippewa Peace Commission Meeting in Washington,D.C., two Guys Eustache and Francis roussain are standing next to each other. These may be sons of any one of these men.
We also have lots of names of Roussains in census records in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. We also have a photo of a headstone with Roussain on it and Francis is supposed to be buried in the Fond du Lac Cemetery with two of his children. We can't find out if this is Fond du Lac,Minnesota, or Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. Any help would be so Greatly Appreciated!!!! Thanks.

Message: I am doing research on the Monette family. I have varous spellings and it is hard to trace first names it seems. I do know that there is some Indian in our family but most likely a few generations back. My great grandfather was Thomas Monette who was born in Michigan, his father Octave, then took the family back to Canada and then they came down most likely in the late 1880s to 1890s down to the Wasburn/Bayfield Wisconsin area as that is where they are on the census. Thomas' brother, Joseph, married a Flora Charboneau and they eventually setted in the 1920s in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Does anyone have any information on this line. Octave's father is believed to be Jean Baptiste Monette married to Luce Maissoneuve.
Any information would be appreciated. I recognize a lot of these names from my research on the censuses at the same time as my ancestry. Thomas married a Mary Arendt.

I see from the postings on the message that I may have helped bridge some family gaps, and may have helped people find some answers to thier questions. This was a by product of the posting. My intent was to give a overview of the people in the Turtle Mt. area of North Dakota. Many of us are from the Pembina area not far from Winnipeg as the Red river flows south. Most of us here are Metis we have very few full blood Ojibway left here at Turtle Mt. Personally I'm a member of the Little Shell pembina Band and my family clan is the bear. I travel to Canada often with my Metis Dance group and have been anywhere from Edmonton to Winnipeg in pursute of Metis dance. The dances of the Metis are a part of us and is something that we hold on to dearly.

Message: Hi Karlene,
Yes it is a small world that we live in. During the late 1800's Little Shell was looking for a place to settle He was not please with the offer from the US.Gov.with the Turtle Mt. site. He stated that it was not enough land to sustaine his people so he went to Montana in search of land. I could go into a long story but I won't. Many of the DeMontigny's who are in Rocky Boy are cousins to my mother her maiden name was DeMontigny.I asume you know of the (WE are Montana Metis site). I have checked it out a time or two. My family and I travel to Metis festivals in Canada and we also have a dance group of youngsters who have a big fan club up north we compete and put on demonstations in many Metis Communities. We are very honored to have the privilege to carry on the Metis traditions that have been passed on to us. Here at Turtle Mt. many of the elders speak Michif and it is also a part of our school programs. Personally I speak limited Michif and some pure french, however I may improve in time with some practice. Well thanks for you interest in my posting, Take care.

You may remember an artical about a fire truck from Turtle Mt. tumbling down the Mountain side. Well I was one of the guys in the truck it was after that My loving wife said you will not fight fire any more. ( I can't raise the kids by my self) so that was that. I would like to go to the Summer festival that is held yearly in Lewiston. I hear it is pretty good.

2 Anna BRUNELLE b: 1869
2 Winifred BRUNELLE b: 1863 d: 1919
+ John Louis GIESKE b: 1862 var pageName="AWT Descendancy View";
I believe that Angelique Cote, who was Louis' mother, was born at Lac Courte Oreille, and was half Indian. Most of the Brunelles from my side of the family lived on Grey Cloud Island in Washington County, Minnesota. This is usually found under Newport or Cottage Grove, and you can look on the 1900 and 1910 Census for information about tribes. My ancestor, Paul Brunelle, lived on Grey Cloud Island with his wife, Angeline Turpin. After 1880, many of the Turpins went north to the White Earth Reservation, but not very many Brunelles did.

I am searching for relatives of Eva Galdu who
lived in Peace River in 1953 and had a daughter.
She lived with Bill Wilson at that time. She was
the daughter of Alec Gladu and Elizabeth Birard.
Apparently there was twins in the family. Info is
very vague. Any help is appreciated

Message: I have just starting tracing back in my family tree and I'm about to fill out the online genealogy form.
My Grandmother's maiden name was Jeanotte, and Langan was my maiden name. My dad says that my grandfather (Langan) was from ND somwhere( Belcourt sounds familier), but it has been hard to find out anything about him he was secretive all his life and now he is gone. My dad also told me that maybe my grandfather or his father changed his last name that is why it is so hard to find any information, but now I came on this message board and was suprised to see that Langan was one of the names listed! I have gone on Ancestery.com and came up empty handed. I also was told about a church burning down with all my grandfather information in it? I don't know if there is any truth to this.
Can you e-mail me and tell me how you know about the last name Langan? Any information would be great. My grandfather never said anything about about his genealogy at all and I only know a little about my Grandmother's side she was a Jeanotte, Jeannotte I see alot of different spellings of that last name.
My dad's cousin had his genealogy done before and it traced back to Cuthbert Grant and Marie McGillis. I'm so excited and find this so intersting!
I hope that I can find out more after doing the online genealogy form.

Message: I am actually trying to search both paternal and maternal lines of my family. Have Houle/Bassett on maternal side and Perrault, Brunelle, Davis on paternal side. My paternal grandmother was born Madeline Perrault in 12/1907 or 1905 and her mother's maiden name was Brunelle. She was one of 11 children i believe. My information is sketchy and I am trying to piece things together, any help will be great. She was French Canadian and married my grandfather John Davis (1 of 9) born 7/1907 he was born in Vermont and they met and married in Mass. Brockton Mass is where they lived until the 1960's as John and Madeline Davis.

I beleive my Grandmother was Marie Cecile(2/24/1899) but am not sure. She was brought to the residential school in Pine Creek (Camperville) MB. at an early age (5) and never saw her mother again. She remembers going to a funeral (her Dad's??) and their house was burnig when they returned. A priest brought her and a younger sister the residential school until her mother had a new place to live. The priest left a younger baby with the mother because he/she was still nursing. After her marraige to my grandfathr, my gm found out that her mothr was still alive and had remarried, but she never found outany thing else about her.
Any information would be appreciated.
Thank you.
