Families are: St Germain, DeGuire, Sansregret, Oullett, Rock, LaRouque, Belanger. Settled in around Battleford, Maidstone areas. Any help - any relatives out there ??? You have a great site here too.

I look forward to investigating more of my families history as there have been many stories told to me by my late father.

Her mother was Mary St Germain, Mary's sister Justine married Napolian Sansregret. Her other sister marrie William Oullette. Is there any connection to the St Germain's. My paternal greatgrandmother was Magdeline Sansregret-Collins born in Saskatchewan her parents were Pierre Sansregret(pontbriand, brilliant) and Caroline Parenteau. Richard 7/20/2003 21:25:27	RE: Tracing families from Red River settlement IP: Logged Message: I am a descendent of Edouard L'heureux who married Marguerite Sinclair in the Red River St.Boniface in 1882. My mother Jeanne Marie L'heureux was born in 1885 in Battleford where Edouard L'heureux had migrated with his wife Marguerite(Sauve) Sinclair to the area. Edouard worked in connection with the CPR in various locations in Saskatchewan. Mother was placed in St.Peter's Mission in Montana at an early age; would appreciate any information about her parents.

Pierre Henri Coutu married Catherine Marie Lagimodiere in 1862 and had 20 children. They lived in Winnipeg. Their son Victor married Marie Lavallee and they had eight children. My grandfather Arthur Cout was one of their sons. My father Normand Coutu married Edna Savard and they had two children. Michele and David Coutu who live in British Columbia.

Married Joseph Paquin dit Pocha b. 1833 St. Boniface and died 1916 Lindsay, Sask. One of their sons believed to have fought with Metis at Duck Lake. Any more info. would be appreciated.

His brother Andre (Andy) lived also in the area but he died about 50 years ago. Andy's wife, Marion and some of her family, still live in N. Battleford. Dad's father was Louis Sansregret married to Emma Charette. My Mom is Hermenie Bergeron (b. 1917 in Edam) and grew up in Edam. Her Mom is a Nolin. Unfortunately my mother has lost her memory, she is 87. I remember visiting family as a child and taking the Maidstone Ferry or sometimes the Paynton Ferry- I think it was a relative that ran one of those ferries. My Uncle Andy Sansregret was a farmer and also used to work with the Aquadeo. I sure regret (in spite of the name) not getting more written down. My Mom's sister Annette Regnier still lives in N. Battleford and she had done a lot of research- but she is slowing down a lot too. Perhaps you have some info to share with me. Sam

There is only a reference to the Red River, Canada. She married Anthony(Antoine) Lemon. He was born in 1803 in Massachusetts. They were married on July 5, 1837 in Crawford County, Wisconsin. They settled in Weston Wisconsin in 1838.

I see that we are related thru Emmanuel Beaugrand dit CHAMPAGNE and Marguerite LAROCQUE. I come thru their daughter, Josephte CHAMPAGNE b.12 Jun 1828 in St. Boniface, Manitoba and m. Moise Sr. CARRI�RE b. 14 DEC 1819 in NWT. Their daughter, Marie CARRIERE m. Napoleon BRUNEAU and were my great grandparents. I believe DeGuire is one of the many dit names for Larose or vica versa. This is a long shot..and leap of faith for me. Looking for Angele Larose, perhaps dit DeGuire? she was born about the time the families started their migration to Red River. She married Oliver Prevost. I do not have a marriage date for these two. Only for their child. Olive Prevost m, Simeon Dufort August 2, 1853 Chateaugauy PQ. So knowing that Angele Larose's son was married in 1853 , that puts her birth of course, before 1853.. Does anyone have an Angele Larose or Angele DeGuire? Can't find her in any of the Major Catholic records, or book holdings at the research libraries. Thank you. Michelle

Was this after the fact, that they had been pushed off their original farmland? I also have read that at this same time the transfer of Ruperts land (Hudson Bay Company) to the Dominion of Canada, and was this action part of the cause of the abuse that Metis People recieved from the Federal Government? This will be part of the celebrations of the 175th anniversary of Lower Fort Garry National Historic Site during 2005-2006.
